Now i dont see how we can get in the playoffs. Those are real talented Ballplayers. And Anquan Boldin is no Jerry Rice.

Steve--
FWIW, the CAP plays a significant role in how an NFL franchise is managed. My guess is that the Ravens could not afford to keep both Heap and Mason and progress with whatever their overall strategy is, including this season and the future. No question they are talented, but so are a bunch of other guys.

Not sure about your point with Boldin not being Jerry Rice. Heap is no John Mackey, and I'd take JM in a minute. Mason is no Raymond Berry, and I'd take Berry in a minute.

If I can offer a theory -- I heard a sound bite as I was flipping ESPN channels this afternoon after coming in from Harry Homeowner yard duty, where one of the talking heads said something to the tune of, "Hey, football is a young man's game." Now, I don't think it's THAT simple, but bothe Heap and Mason are aging. I wish them both the best, but It may have been time to cut ties and go younger.

Of course, this is all one guy's opinion...

The Detroit Lions had a nerve, holding Sanders to his contract, instead of letting him play for real NFL team, behind a real NFL caliber offensive line.

Actually, I have friends who know people who had relatives who lived next to some folks who said they saw certain things going on back then, in the halcyon days of the BALTIMORE Colts!!!

Not that I have any personal, first-hand knowledge or experience in such matters, mind you...

I'm sure the front office is at this very moment scrambling to see if they can get both Mason and Heap back so that Steve61 doesn't disagree with what they are doing.

Steve61 - how can you post such a bold statement when you know it's going to keep them up at night?

Trade a 3rd and a conditional 4th to the Cards for Heap! Ozzie will have really shit the bed if he doesn't take that deal!

The only thing the Ravens did this offseason that I really liked was getting Marshall Yanda and Chris Carr back. Everything else, I am over it.

But I love how people talk about getting younger and getting under the cap when the front office turned around and gave a soon to be 30 year old FB a 3 year contract worth 11 million dollars with over half of it guaranteed.

Agree or disagree with the decision to not bring Mason and Heap back but dont say it's because of age and money and then in the same breath try to justify the signing of Vonta Leach to the richest contract ever given to a FB.

When the Ravens start looking like the Orioles youll know why. O's have No Pitching. But they got Bats! Like Ravens do have a great defense but when Offense is lacking points then theyre gonna look like the O's. But when they do look like the O's will we see empty purple seats in the stadium just like Empty seats at Memorial Stadium when Colts were here in the 80s?

Trying to compare the O's and Ravens is moronic at best...you may not like what they did but those two franchises could not be run differently!

I will miss both players. Have many fond memories of both. That being said if they are convinced that the young guys can produce enough and they end up being right I will be happy and pretend like I was a fan of the moves from the start. If it does not work out I reserve the right to be critical at a later date

:) :) :)

Seriously, its over and done with. What we think, right or wrong move is just pure speculation, it will be settled on the field
