Might as well add Gaither to make 53- he is a fifth round pick after all

wow. it will be awful hard to cut some of these guys. I wonder if they won't try a trade or two for future draft pix.
Mr. Newsome & co have done a terrif job of getting these guys. seem like just a couple years ago Coach B was wondering if he had 40 NFL players to work with.

yea i think it could be one solid year with no injuries but the fact of life in the nfl is that they happen lets just hope nothing serious happens to our starters and the 52 we have and who ever the 53rd man is is as good as the rest and we clebraste another super bowel victory

Guaranteed about 2-5 roster spots open up due to injuries. They may not even be serious, young guys who never get a look in camp because of earlucamp injuries. That will clear out some of the log jam...

I think Vincent is defintely on the squad and what a great back up he will be. It also seems that the word about town is that the Ravens will find a way to IR Gaither. Daniels, if he makes the team, will make 53. The bottem line is there isn't a whole lot of room for the young guys to make this team.

In the NFL, depth at RB is a REQUIREMENT... it's simply too common a place for injury... Daniels WILL make the team.
I don't honestly see Vincent cuttign it as a backup. I think he is starter or cut. His salary, age and contract status put him in that position. If Gaither does make it to the IR, whihc would be a blessing, then I think rimpf and Indukwe are fighting for Vincent's spot. That would clear some "insurance" cap room, while givinga below average starter a chance to starrt elsewhere... All IMO, of course. .

I agree with you about Daniels but if I had listed him then we have 53 and no spots available. I disagree about Vincent, he has been a servicable starter, has a veterans knowledge, w/o a ton of mileage on his body. I think he is a better player than Rimpf, so this makes him a good backup @ both guard spots.

i would keep daniels over musa smith the man gets hurt every other time he touches the ball and vincent well his contract was a waste the you ozzie for drafting grubbs its time to give up on the veterans smith, flynn, and vincent and turn to the younger more talented guys...........

I think Flynn or Vincent is gone, likely Flynn. Vincent has the smaller contract, is younger and by all reports has been busting his hump all off season to get in shape. He had sports hernia surgery. Reports are that he is looking good. The brass in Owings Mills like Daniels if he can hold on to the rock. Gaither either makes the 53 or develops some phantom injury. I also think either olglesby or martin is gone... Cody probably will be cut or IR ...again.

I expect a trade an a injury or two ( knock on wood ) to clean up some potential logs jams. I think the Ravens come to camp with the best set of OL talent in quite some time. Alot of guys are interchangable and would deftintely get picked up if cut. ie..Flynn or Vincent. Gaither I too expect to land on the IR with a injury at the end of camp. (Take you pick.. ankle/knee)
Daniels/Smith.. I'd like to see what Daniels could can.. do Smith always has potential but an injury somewhere along the season usually crops up. Needless to say training camp 07 will be interesting.

I think Gaither dresses gameday unless he has a terrible camp. We don't have enought OTs, and we're still not sure how Hobbled or Healthy Ogden is.
I dont think PJ Daniels makes the roster. PS, maybe. He's not someone another team will pick up immediate if we release, and we're got 3 competent back with WM, MA, and Musa. the switch back to zone blocking will also help Mike Anderson look better.
I'm pretty sure that Darling and Figurs are the 4th and 5th WRs, as Darling is getting better and has more special teams value than other candidates, and with our running a lot more 3 WR 1 TE 1 RB sets, you need depth at WR. Years past we basically ran 2 WRs on the field at most, so depth there wasn't an issue.
I have a sad feeling Cody ends up on IR.
I think Rimpf might still have a spot on this team as a young backup if he proves he's healthy. We might keep a large ammount of o-lineman (9-10) or maybe stash someone on IR, but I dont think it'll be gaither.

Out of my whole roster out of two days of consideration I would change Danials who seems assurred of a spot with King who needs to make the squad.

I agree. I think 4 viable RB's are essential to an NFL roster.

I agree for the most part with a few slight modifications :
Quarterback
Steve McNair, Kyle Boller, & Troy Smith
Running Back
Willis McGahee, Musa Smith, Mike Anderson, & P.J. Daniels
Fullback
Le’Ron McClain & Justin Green
Tight End
Todd Heap, Daniel Wilcox, & Quinn Sypniewski
Wide Receiver
Mark Clayton, Derrick Mason, Demetrius Williams, Devard Darling, & Yamon Figurs
Offensive Line
Jonathan Ogden, Jason Brown, Mike Flynn, Chris Chester, Adam Terry, Ben Grubbs, Marshal Yanda, & Jared Gaither,
25 on offense.
I think Keydrick Vincent will battle with Brian Rimpf, Michael Kracalik, Ikechuku Ndukwe,
Chris Pino, & Steve Edwards for the last spot on the OL. I think they will keep 9 this year.
If P.J. Daniels shows anything in the Pre-Season, like being able to hang onto the rock, I don’t think the Ravens will be able to sneak him on the Practice Squad this year. Not with such a premium on Running Backs in the League.
1 more Spot brings the total to 26.
Special Teams (3) – Matt Stover, Sam Koch, & Matt Katula
By no means do I think B.J. Sams is a lock to make the squad. If Figurs shows he can handle
punts, I could see the Ravens trying to trade or just release him. I really only see 3 locks on the Special Teams.
3 more Spots brings the total to 29.
Defensive Line
Trevor Pryce, Kelly Gregg, Haloti Ngata, & Dwan Edwards
Defensive End/Linebacker
Terrell Suggs, Jarret Johnson, Antwan Barnes, & Dan Cody
Linebacker
Ray Lewis, Bart Scott, Gary Stills, & Dennis Haley
Safety
Ed Reed, Dawan Landry, & Gerome Sapp
Cornerback
Cris McAlister, Samari Rolle, Corey Ivy, Ronnie Prude, David Pittman, & Derrick Martin
21 on defense.
That brings the total to 50.
Justin Bannan & Kenny King will battle with Atiyyah Ellison, Keyonta Marshall, Andrew Powell, & Lawrence Wilson for 2 more DL slots.
Mike Smith & Prescott Burgess will battle for one Linebacker spot.
That’s 3 more, or 53.
If Yamon Figurs shows he is too erratic for Punt Receiving duty, they will keep Sams with Bannan & King likely battling for one spot. It wouldn’t surprise me if they managed to slip Sams on the PUP list. It also wouldn’t surprise me if Dan Cody ends up on PUP or IR. This could also free up a spot for Sams if needed.
The Practice Squad will Likely be lead by :
Cullen Finnerty & Drew Olson will battle for a fourth Quarterback Slot.
Best losing Offensive Lineman that will stick.
Mike Smith / Prescott Burgess loser.
Jim Cottrell, Edgar Jones, & Travis Leitko will battle for a potential DE/OL slot.
Bobby Blackshire & Donnie Johnson will Battle to be kept as extra Safety.
Evan Oglesby, Jamaine Winborne, Willie Gaston, & Terrell Maze will Battle to be kept as an extra CB.

I wonder if the Ravens would consider some kind of competition between Justin Green and Wilcox. If McClain is a true blocking back and projected starter, what use would Green have in the offense that Wilcox couldn't fill? Wilcox can fill in at fullback and tight end and is a solid pass catcher and special teams performer.

I'll say sams get cut for sure. Dui's and broken leg will open a spot for someone. Yamon is the real deal on returns. It's his job hands down.

I think they plan on using both Sams and Figurs, Figurs on kickoffs and Sams on PR or vice versa, also Bannon is a lock for the squad the Ravens loved his production last year before he was hurt. It is almost time to start laying the smacketh down on the rest of the AFC North.:141847_smmackbottom

Other than salary, how would Dwan Edwards make it over Justin Bannan? Dwan has not showed us anything, and Bannan is a tried and true vet.

He was a draft pick and he's younger, in addtion to the salary, and the Ravens tend to favor these traits.

I think the Ravens will end up keeping both Bannan and Edwards. I think Bannan is a poor man's Buddy Lee. They act so much alike on then field, Bannan even hikes up his pants the same way.

I think Bannan and Edwards definitely have the inside track. However, I also think if one of the new guys knocks Rex's socks off to the point where he feels it necessary to keep him among the 53, they will cut Bannan before Edwards.
