Article on the ridiculous rate of which QBs are getting sacked.

I blame the NFL. The new Chuck rule enforcement was one of the stupidest thing the NFL has done in recent years.

The NFL wanted high scoring games, and didn't want DBs touching, much less mugging, recievers outside of 5 yards. After all that is the rule, although the enforcement of it is ticky tacky.

So defenses suffered. Manning enjoyed a career year for passing yards and TDs. And all was well.

Until . . .

Defenses figured out if we can't touch and stop these recievers, we're just going to have to beat the living hell out of the QB. Beat the shit out of him. Blitz. Bring 8, 9, 10, 11, shit bring 12 and take the 12 men on the field penalty.

So now boooo hoooo QBs are getting hurt.

Maybe the NFL shouldn't have upset the delicate balance there once was between pass rushing and actually defense in the secondary.

Now the defenses like Rex Ryan's 46 focus on beating up the QBs and RBs, and if the QB gets off a throw, hopefully its badly thrown and then the DBs can clean a WRs clock when they try to adjust.

Be careful what you wish for, NFL

The NFL needs to reconsider its desire for score happy games, because now its backfied, I think

My 2 cents

I agree with you Dave, but you need to change your title (you weren't referring to the Tuck rule).

The only way to stop an offense now is to disrupt the timing and get to a QB. The new rules have eliminated the shut down corner. THe only one who can still do it is Champ and even he looks like a fool when covering the elite recievers (like Chad Johnson last year). I agree that the NFL went to far and now they are seeing the consequences.

Lets just hope the NFL doesn't let the QB's wear redshirts during gameday.:eyes:

Its pretty obvious that Defensive minds would figure out a way to get around
giving receivers free reign. Its do or die,get to the QB or give up a big pass play eventually .O'linemen paychecks will go up and up at this rate.
